Trainer ELI GUTTMAN’s Israel national team would cross the border to arrive at the Red Bull Arena and face Germany in Leipzig after having just lost a recent friendly 2-1 to the Czech Republic in heartbreaking fashion. Striker ITAY SHECHTER of recently relegated German Bundesliga club 1.FC Kaiserslautern had leveled for the Israelis after sharply heading home a cross from Polish legionnaire MAOR MELIKSON of SA Wislaw Krakow just before halftime but the Euro 2012-bound Czechs, after the appearance of numerous second half substitutes from both sides, snatched the result in Graz, Austria, with a goal in the fourth minute of time added on. Most unfortunate of all, perhaps, was FC Beitar Jerusalem goalkeeper ARIEL HARUSH, the 24-year-old who had brought off a string of saves in the contest to hold off the Czech Republic at bay on his full international debut for Israel.
