Germany Beats Brazil In World Cup Heavyweight Collision

Germany World Cup midfielder BASTIAN SCHWEINSTEIGER (7) of Bundesliga club Bayern Munich and Brazil World Cup striker ROBINHO (7) of current defending Serie A champion AC Milan, who both netted a penalty in the shootout at the conclusion of the Audi Cup semi-final in Bavaria a couple of weeks ago, both eye the ball and would again each score from spot during the international friendly staged at the Mercedes Benz Arena in Stuttgart.

Anytime two countries with a combined eight FIFA World Cup titles collide, there is always guaranteed to be a tremendous amount of national pride on the line, if nothing else. And so it has to rate as a satisfying result, if only from this perspective. Three-time Weltmeister GERMANY blitzed BRAZIL just after the hour with three goals in twenty minutes and, thus, earned their first triumph over their opponents from South America since November of 1993.

Ausgezeichnet!

Bayern Munich midfielder BASTIAN SCHWEINSTEIGER broke the scoreless draw from the penalty spot and posted his 22nd career goal for Germany. Schweinsteiger’s constituent in the Bundesliga, TONI KROOS, had been brought down by Brazil defender LUCIO of Italian club Inter Milan, the aging long-time former Bayern Munich backliner, after taking a pass from Borussia Dortmund midfielder MARIO GOETZE in the box just past the hour mark. Exactly six minutes later, the 21-year-old Kroos played a nice one-two with the veteran striker MIROSLAV KLOSE of Serie A side SS Lazio Rome, on his 110th international appearance, and released Goetze with a brilliant ball.

The 19-year-old teenager representing the reigning Bundesliga champions proceeded to round the accomplished JULIO CESAR of Italian club Inter Milan as if the experienced Brazil World Cup goalkeeper were but a mere orange practice pylon and scored his first-ever goal for Germany.

Italilan exile ROBINHO of AC Milan pulled a goal back for Brazil from the spot after a suspect penalty was awarded by Hungarian referee VIKTOR KASSAI in the 72th minute. However, Germany regained the momentum for good with ten mintues to play when a hustling Schweinsteiger stole the ball from Brazil defender ANDRE SANTOS of Turkish outfit SK Fenerbahce Istanbul in the area and immediately fed second half substitute ANDRE SCHUERRLE of Bayer Leverkusen. The 20-year-old attacker, who emerged with 15 goals in 33 Bundesliga games for FSV Mainz last season, neatly curled his shot past Julio Cesar to net his third goal in six games for Germany and effectively end the night.

The 90th minute goal of new Brazilian wonderboy NEYMAR of FC Santos, much like the teenager’s hair, was cosmetic.

19-year-old talented Germany midfielder MARIO GOETZE (8) of Borussia Dortmund is brought down by Brazil midfielder FERNANDINHO (11) of Ukrainian side FC Shakhtar Donetsk during the international friendly with Brazil in Stuttgart; in November of 2010, the teenager became the seventh youngest player ever to appear for Germany and the second youngest since the end of the Second World War sixty-six years ago.
