A goal in the fifth minute of the match set an early tone as current Bundesliga leaders BORUSSIA DORTMUND easily turned visiting Ukranian club FC KARPATY LVIV back 3-0 in Group J of the UEFA Europa League.

Japan international midfielder SHINJI KAGAWA, who opened die Schwarzgelben’s European campaign this season with a brace against Azerbaijani outfit FK Qarabag in mid-August, headed in the cross of Turkey international midfielder NURI SAHIN to hand Borussia Dortmund a fast start in a must-win match.

The Turkish playmaker also provided the ball for Germany international defender MATS HUMMELS to head past Karpaty Lviv goalkeeper VITALY RUDENKO four minutes into the second half for Borussia Dortmund, who thoroughly controlled the match as indicated by the 20-3 shots-at-goal count.

Poland international striker ROBERT LEWANDOWSKI started up front for Borussia Dortmund in lieu of injured Paraguay World Cup striker LUCAS BARRIOS and added a final goal following a pass from the influential Sahin, who issued his third assist on the night.

Lewandowski, who has yet to appear in the starting XI for a Bundesliga match this term, bagged his fifth goal of the season for Borussia Dortmund to finish off FC Karpaty Lviv and set die Schwarzgelben up for a final UEFA Europa League Group J showdown with FC Sevilla in Spain.
