American Spector Sinks Manchester United’s Ship In Snowy London

“So much for the Progressive Liberal rent-seeking scam of ‘Global Warming’, it is not even December yet!”, Mexico World Cup winger PABLO BARRERA (12) of West Ham United thinks to himself while being hauled down by Manchester United’s veteran Wales international winger RYAN GIGGS (11) at a snowy Upton Park in East London, England. Seldom-used this season and once once the books of tonight’s Carling League Cup opponents, United States international defender JONATHAN SPECTOR scored the game’s first two goals as Premier League cellar-dweller WEST HAM UNITED wasted visiting MANCHESTER UNITED 4-0 and knocked the defending champions out of the tournament.

A career night in a snowy capital city, then, for the seldom-used Spector, who had never before scored a goal in any competition in this, his seventh season of English football.

Spector, a reserve for the United States at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, has started just one of West Ham’s initial 14 games in the Premiership this season after making a career-high 22 starts and 27 overall appearances in the league last season for the East London club.

Proctor, now 24, initially signed for Manchester United in the summer of 2003 but would not make an appearance with the first team for another year. The native of Arlington Heights, Illinois, made seven appearances in all competitions overall for the Red Devils and spent his last season with the club out on loan at Charlton Athletic. In June of 2006, Proctor was sold by Manchester United to West Ham United for 500,000 English pounds.

Manchester United manager SIR ALEX FERGUSON, attempting, as always, to juggle the crowded English calendar of fixtures, fielded a lightweight attack, preferring to rest England World Cup striker WAYNE ROONEY and Bulgaria international DIMITAR BERBATOV, who shot five balls into the net of Blackburn Rovers over the weekend.

Perhaps the problem for West Ham United goalkeeper ROBERT GREEN with England was the lack of snow this summer in South Africa.
