November 11, 2010

After being held to a scoreless draw in the first leg, a goal just four minutes into the match sent REAL MADRID on the way to a 5-1 whipping of third division side REAL MURICA in the second leg of the Copa del Rey’s fourth round.

Former Spain U-21 international midfielder ESTEBAN GRANERO grabbed his first goal of the season for Real Madrid with a blast from just outside the box and, just a few minutes before halftime, Argentina World Cup striker GONZALO HIGUAIN added his eighth goal of the year in all competitions as Los Blancos went to the break up a pair.

In between, Portuguese manager JOSE MOURINHO of Real Madrid was given his marching orders by the match referee in the 38th minute, which mattered very little as Los Merengues piled on three more goals in the second half.

Portugal World Cup striker CRISTIANO RONALDO, France international striker KARIM BENZEMA and Spain World Cup champion midfielder XABI ALONSO all added goals for Real Madrid in the roughly the final quarter of an hour against Real Murica, who had defended so bravely in the first leg at home.

Indicative of just who was in charge of the affair, Real Madrid scored twice even after Spain World Cup reserve defender ALVARO ARBELOA of Real Madrid was issued his marching orders in the 79th minute following a second yellow card offense.
