Perhaps perturbed by the result in Scotland a fortnight ago, a resolute and dominant overall performance propelled host La Liga outfit CF VALENCIA to a 3-0 win over visiting GLASGOW RANGERS in Group C of the UEFA Champions League.

Spain international striker ROBERTO SOLDADO, a summer signing costing 10.0 million Euros from CF Getafe, scored a goal on either side of the halftime whistle for CF Valencia, who enjoyed a plethora of possession and were credited by the official site of the UEFA Champions League as having outshot Glasgow Rangers by the heavy margin of 22-4.

Argentine midfielder TINO COSTA, the off-season acquisition for 6.5 million Euros who scored 15 Ligue 1 goals the past two seasons for French club HSC Montpellier, added the final tally for CF Valencia against the Gers in the final minute.

The scoring woes of Scotland international KENNY MILLER in Europe continue; the 30-year-old counts 13 goals from 10 Scottish league games for Glasgow Rangers this season but was kept off the scoresheet in the Champions League once again in Spain by CF Valencia, who moved into second in Group C with seven points from four matches.

Scotland international winger STEVEN NAISMITH did hit the proverbial woodwork twice for the visitors – the first time after CF Valencia’s Spain international goalkeeper CESAR SANCHEZ just got his finger tips to a shot and once more cleanly with a header. Nevertheless, Rangers drop to third in the group on five points with the result.

With Argentine midfielder TINO COSTA (24) of CF Valencia trailing on the play, one-time Spain international goalkeeper CESAR SANCHEZ (1), who spent the first half of the 2008-09 season sitting the bench for Tottenham Hotspur in England before returning to La Liga with the Valencianistas, rushes out to confront Glasgow Rangers’ Scotland international striker KENNY MILLER at the Estadio Mestalla.
