32-year-old veteran international striker MIROSLAV KLOSE of Bayern Munich scored the last goal of each half as home-standing GERMANY easily put away AZERBAIJAN 6-1 in the Group A qualification match for the 2012 European Championships.

Klose, who provided the only goal of the game as Germany opened its Euro 2012 campaign with a win last week in Belgium, ran his record to 55 goals on 103 appearances for Deutschland.

SV Hamburg defender HEIKO WESTERMANN, forced to come off the bench in the 11th minute as a subsitute for injured World Cup center back PER MERTESACKER of Werder Bremen, sent the hosts to the lead with his third international goal in 21 games for Germany shortly before the half hour mark.

1.FC Koeln World Cup winger LUKAS PODOLSKI fashioned his 41st career goal in 81 games for Germany while 21-year-old World Cup midfielder MESUT OEZIL of Spanish giant Real Madrid handed out two assists, as well; another 21-year-old, Bayern Munich defender HOLGER BADSTUBER, added his first-ever international goal on his sixth appearance for Germany.

VAGIZ DZAVADOV, on loan to FC Baku from Dutch Eredivisie side FC Twente Enschede, accounted for Azerbaijan’s solitary strike.
