Der Rote Teufel caught the defending champions without their shooting boots on while taking full advantage of their own limited chances as newly-promoted 1.FC KAISERSLAUTERN, playing in the top flight of German football for the first time since the 2005-06 season, knocked off defending champion FC BAYERN MUNICH 2-0 on the second matchday of the new Bundesliga schedule.
A pair of Croatians, midfielder IVO ILICEVIC and striker SRDAN LAKIC, scored goals barely one minute apart towards the end of the first half to help Kaiserslautern claim victory over Bayern Munich for the first time in eleven years.
The 23-year-old Ilicevic counted his first Bundesliga goal since the 2006-07 campaign while competing for Vfl Bochum.
Bayern Munich almost doubled-up home side Kaiserslautern on the shots-at-goal chart (23-12) but wasted many good opportunities in failing to score for the first time in a competitive match this season.
