UEFA Champions League
Playoff round, first leg
2 – FK Partizan Belgrade (SRB) ——— Cleo 57′, own goal 64′
2 – RSC Anderlecht (BEL) ————— Gillet 54′, Juhasz 66′
A flurry of goals at the start of the second half settles little as Serbian club FK PARTIZAN BELGRADE and Belgian side RSC ANDERLECHT draw 2-2 in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League playoff fixture.
Belgium international midfielder GUILLAUME GILLET capped off a powerful run through the box to head home the swerving cross from 19-year-old Czech left back JAN LECJAKS and send the visitors out in front less than ten minutes into the second half.
Not long after, however, Lecjaks might have done better to pick up Partizan Belgrade’s Brazilian striker CLEO, who calmly controlled a chip into the box to bloop the ball over Belgium international goalkeeper SILVIO PROTO for the equalizer.
And then, barely seven minutes later and under no real pressure, the youthful Czech defender inexplicably volleyed a Partizan cross into his own net from a good eight yard out to provide the hosts their first lead of the evening.
But, Anderlecht answered quickly after substitute Brazilian forward KANU was allowed to non-chalantly heel a ball which had ballooned high into the air across the face of goal for Hungary international defender ROLAND JUHASZ to hammer home.
Partizan Belgrade goalkeeper RADISA ILIC most certainly should have left his feet and tried to punch the ball clear.
Both teams have all to play for in the second leg then, although RSC Anderlecht will have two away goals on its account.
