Brazilian-born CACAU (Claudemir Jeronimo Barretto) of Vfb Stuttgart, a fixture in German football since his first appearance with 1.FC Nuremberg in 2001, equaled a career-best with 13 goals in the Bundesliga last season. The 29-year-old striker, who has been at Vfb Stuttgart since the start of the 2003-04 campaign, boasts 70 goals in 221 career Bundesliga matches. Cacau, who has now earned 12 caps (4 goals) for the German national team, made his World Cup debut and scored a goal against Australia in South Africa earlier this summer.

VFB STUTTGART are a traditionally strong club who have competed in the top flight of German football every campaign save two since the Bundesliga (national league) was founded to start the 1963-64 season.

Verein fuer Bewegungsspiele Stuttgart have roots reaching back to 1893 having officially formed in April of 1912 with the merger of Stuttgarter Fussballverein and Kronen-Club Cannstatt.

Vfb Stuttgart have won the (West) German national championship on five occasions, with the first title arriving in 1950, and have added three DFB Pokal (Cup) awards, as well. As for European competition, the Swabian side captured the UEFA Cup in 1989 and the old UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup in 1998.
