With World Cup strikers David Trezeguet of France and Italy’s Vincenzo Iaquinta on the bench or not in uniform, respectively, veteran Brazilian attacker AMAURI scored a pair of goals to power FC JUVENTUS in the UEFA Europa League third round qualifying, first leg match in Ireland.
The 30-year-striker, who scored five goals in 30 Serie A matches last season for Juventus, equaled his total from eight UEFA contests a year ago with two against FC SHAMROCK ROVERS to start this campaign, as well.
33-year-old goalkeeper MARCO STORARI, purchased by FC Juventus from AC Milan for 4.5 million Euros in June to provide cover for Italy World Cup goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, kept a clean sheet on his debut for The Old Lady.
