German Bundesliga club VFB STUTTGART have announced an agreement has been reached with Spanish giant REAL MADRID with respect to the transfer of Germany World Cup midfielder SAMI KHEDIRA.
A transfer fee has not been announced, but it is believed to be in the neighborhood of 14.0 million Euros.
Khedira played four seasons for his hometown Vfb Stuttgart after graduating from the team’s youth ranks and scored 14 goals in 98 Bundesliga matches while claiming a German championship in his first season with the senior side.
A defensive midfielder who is both a skilled ball-winner as well as passer, the 23-year-old has already earned 12 caps (1 goal) for Germany and was a key member of the squad that took 3rd place at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Khedira is the second South African World Cup squad member to be poached by Real Madrid for in-coming manager JOSE MOURINHO this summer.
At the end of June, Real Madrid announced the purchase of 22-year-old Argentina international midfielder ANGEL DI MARIA from Portuguese club Sport Benfica Lisbon for 25.0 million Euros base fee plus another 11.0 million Euros available via incentives, this according to an announcement from the regulatory Portuguese Securities Market Commission.
