The new Premier League rules requiring clubs to register no more than 25 squad players over the age of twenty-one for matchday eligibility after the first of September will see to some decision being made by Manchester City’s Italian manager ROBERTO MANCINI, currently on tour with his club in the United States.

Veteran international forwards MARTIN PETROV of Bulgaria (77 caps, 19 goals) and BENJI MWARUWARI of Zimbabwe (43 caps, 29 goals), who finished the year on loan at Sunderland, were both released by Manchester City in June, as was Brazilian international defender SYLVINHO MENDES CAMPOS.

Bulgarian international striker VALERI BOJINOV (29 caps, 7 goals), who spent all last season out on loan in Serie A, has been purchased outright by Italian club FC Parma for 4.5 million English pounds.

Goalkeeper GUNNAR NIELSEN, the former Faroe Islands U-21 international, and young defender DAVID BALL have already been sent out on loan by Manchester City to Tranmere Rovers and Swindon Town, respectively.

Meanwhile, having already bought four World Cup players for the new campaign, it is expected that Manchester City will purchase at least one striker for the 2010-11 season, as well.

It is all but certain that Brazil World Cup striker ROBINHO, currently finishing his loan spell with domestic club FC Santos, will not be returning to the Eastlands.

At present, there are 30 players over the age of twenty-one on the roster of Manchester City…
