The flood gates opened early in earnest as Israeli champion FC HAPOEL TEL AVIV put no fewer than five balls into the net of the football kings of Bosnia / Herzegovina, FK ZELJEZNICAR SARAJEVO, within thirty-eight minutes of the UEFA Champions League match at the Bloomfield Stadium in Tel Aviv.
MAARAN LALA tallied a first half hat-trick to power the home side. The 28-year-old striker, who totaled a modest ten goals in the Israel Premier League the last two seasons with Hapoel Tel Aviv, enjoyed a career night in UEFA football. Entering the contest with Zeljeznicar Sarajevo, Lala had scored but one goal in eight matches involving European competition.
Israel international midfielder YOSSHI SHIVHON, an off-season signing from arch-rival FC Maccabi Tel Aviv, added a goal on his European debut for his new club.
