Seldom-used Mali international midfielder MAHAMADOU DIARRA has left La Liga giant REAL MADRID and returned to French Ligue 1 by signing with AS MONACO on a free transfer.

The move closes the books on the four and a half year career with Los Blancos for Diarra, who has earned 60 caps and scored five goals for Mali; the 29-year-old midfielder was originally purchased on the insistance of then-Real Madrid’s Italian manager FABIO CAPELLO in August of 2006 and a massive transfer fee of 26.0 million Euros was paid to French side Olympique Lyon.

Diarra made just three appearances, all as a substitute, in La Liga for Real Madrid this term under the reign of Portuguese manager JOSE MOURINHO.

Bayern Munich Move Braafheid To TSG 1899 Hoffenheim

(Wolfgang Rattay/Reuters)
========================================================

BAYERN MUNICH have sold disgruntled Dutch defender EDSON BRAAFHEID to fellow German Bundesliga side TSG 1899 Hoffenheim for an undisclosed transfer fee, most likely in the neighborhood of two million Euros.

The 27-year-old defender, primarily a left back, was used very sparingly for Bayern Munich over the first half of this 2010-11 campaign. Last term, the Holland international rearguard spent the second half of last season out on loan at Glasgow Celtic in Scotland. This year, Braafheid appeared in just three Bundesliga games (two starts) for the Bavarians and, in all competitions, played exactly five matches for Bayern Munich.

Braafheid, who was originally bought by the Bavarians from Dutch Eredivisie side FC Twente Enschede for a fee of 2.5 million Euros in July of 2009, clashed with Dutch trainer LOUIS VAN GAAL in the changing room following the mid-November 3-3 draw with Borussia Moenchengladbach; Braafheid was upset that, after getting up off the bench to warm-up, the Dutch trainer chose not to send his countryman into the contest.

(Russell Cheyne/Reuters)
===========================================

At TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, Braafheid will hook up again with another from the Netherlands’ 2nd place squad from South Africa; the Baden-Wuerttemberg ball club recently bought Holland World Cup winger RYAN BABEL from English Premier League club FC Liverpool.

Braafheid will also be re-united with another former Bayern Munich teammate, Austria international DAVID ALABA.

The versatile 18-year-old, who can play either in the center of the park or the left side of the pitch, was sent out on loan by the Bavarians to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim for the remainder of this season as part of the transaction that took Brazilian midfielder LUIZ GUSTAVO to the defending Bundesliga champions for the transfer fee of 15.0 million Euros.

Braafheid is the fourth player to leave Bayern Munich this winter following the departures of Argentina World Cup defender MARTIN DEMICHELIS, Holland World Cup midfielder MARK VAN BOMMEL in addition to the loan assignment of Alaba.

Ajax Amsterdam Agree Luis Suarez Sale To FC Liverpool

========================================================

(Robin van Lonkhuijsen/Reuters)
========================================================

Dutch Eredivisie club AJAX AMSTERDAM have agreed to sell controversial Uruguay World Cup striker LUIS SUAREZ to English Premier League side FC LIVERPOOL for the reported transfer fee of 26.5 million Euros (22.8 million English pounds).

The reigning Footballer of the Year in Holland certainly has generated some headlines since the end of the 2009-10 campaign. While representing Uruguay in South Africa this past summer, the 24-year-old striker garnered world-wide attention for his handball on the goal line in the FIFA World Cup quarterfinal match with Ghana. This past November, Suarez earned a seven-match suspension from the KNVB for biting PSV Eindhoven’s Holland international midfielder OTMAN BAKKAL.

After a spectacular haul last campaign, the goal-scoring of Suarez in the Dutch top flight has dropped dramatically this term. Serbia World Cup striker MARKO PANTELIC, who scored 16 Eredivisie goals for Ajax Amsterdam a season ago, was not offered a multi-year contract as was desired and departed for Greek table-toppers FC Olympiakos Piraeus. And the new partnership with Morocco international striker MOUNIR EL HAMDAOUI was not quite as successful for Suarez.

Ajax Amsterdam stand to profit a great deal, however, should the Uruguayan agree personal terms with FC Liverpool — Suarez was originally purchased by de Godenzonen in August of 2007 from FC Groningen for the transfer fee of 7.5 million Euros.

Real Madrid Add Adebayor On Loan From Manchester City

=============================================
(Sergio Perez/Reuters)
=============================================

La Liga giant REAL MADRID, struggling to score as mightily in the Spanish top flight since the crippling injury to Argentina World Cup striker GONZALO HIGUAIN, have taken disgruntled Togo international striker EMMANUEL ADEBAYOR on loan until the end of the season from English Premier League side MANCHESTER CITY.

Adebayor, who scored five goals on 14 appearances in all competitions this season for Manchester City, had notched just one goal in eight Premier League games this season. A key to the transaction taking place, Real Madrid have agreed to pick up the wages of the out of favor Togo international, during the loan period; the 26-year-old striker is said to have a contract paying 165,000 English pounds per week.

Real Madrid do have the option to make the loan permanent at the end of the 2010-11 campaign for a transfer fee of 17.0 million Euros with another 4.0 million Euros on offer in terms of incentive clauses in the agreement.

Bayern Munich Permit van Bommel To Join AC Milan

=====================================================

=====================================================

33-year-old Holland international MARK VAN BOMMEL has left defending Bundesliga champion and UEFA Champions League runners-up BAYERN MUNICH and signed with Italian Serie A table-toppers AC MILAN on a free transfer.

The veteran defensive midfielder, who started both games for Bayern Munich after the resumption of play following the annual Winterpause, left the team just before the German Cup match with Alemmania Aachen in midweek. van Bommel had asked for and was granted the termination of his contract with the Bavarian club after an offer from AC Milan arrived. The Dutchman’s deal with Bayern Munich was set to expire at the end of the season and no new offer had been tendered.

In light of that, FC Bayern Munich AG Chief Executive Officer KARL-HEINZ RUMMENIGGE had allowed van Bommel to explore his options in light of the Dutchman’s loyalty and service to the club.

Liverpool Sell Babel, Absorb Loss

FC LIVERPOOL have unloaded little-used and underachieving Holland international winger RYAN BABEL on German Bundesliga side TSG 1899 HOFFENHEIM for a transfer fee thought to be 5.8 million English pounds.

The 24-year-old Dutchman, who has earned 40 caps and scored five goals for the Netherlands in his career, had started just one of Liverpool’s first 23 Premier League games this season and appeared just nine time in the English top flight this term.

Babel, who made Holland’s 23-man World Cup squad only to not play a single minute in South Africa this summer, was originally bought by Liverpool in the summer of 2007 from traditional Dutch powerhouse Ajax Amsterdam for a reported transfer fee of 11.5 million English pounds but never really did fulfill his enormous promise after arriving at Anfield.

Red Bull Salzburg Have Douglas Da Silva From FC Hapoel Tel Aviv

========================================================

Continuing to spend like no other team in Austria can, defending champions RED BULL SALZBURG have snapped up skilled as well as uncompromising Brazilian defender DOUGLAS DA SILVA from defending Israeli League and Cup champions FC Hapoel Tel Aviv for a transfer fee of 2.6 million Euros.

Da Silva, 26, was a key figure and scored two goals from a dozen appearances in the successful run of FC Hapoel Tel Aviv in the UEFA Champions League this term; of course, Red Bull Salzburg were knocked out of that competition this past August by the Israeli club at the final hurdle to the group stage.

Red Bull Salzburg, with GERHARD TREMMEL an ever-present between the sticks after arriving from the German 2.Bundesliga side Energie Cottbus to start the season, have conceded an Austrian Bundesliga-low baker’s dozen goals but, regardless, are in third place in the standings and looking to strengthen the team during the winter break.

Manchester City Take Torjaeger Edin Dzeko From Vfl Wolfsburg In Record Deal

========================================================

(Alexander Hassenstein / Bongarts / Getty Images)
========================================================

The German outlets have begun to offer confirmation, but England’s THE SUN was among the first to report that MANCHESTER CITY’s eighteen month-long chase of Bosnia international striker EDEN DZEKO of Bundesliga side VFL WOLFSBURG has finally come to a satisfactory conclusion for the Eastlands club.

A transfer fee believed by The Sun to be 27.0 million English pounds has, apparently, been agreed between the Premier League outfit backed by the cash of the ABU DHABI UNITED GROUP FOR DEVELOPMENT AND INVESTMENT and the German club. Manchester City’s Italian manager ROBERTO MANCINI has publically stated that the Dzeko deal is done and all that is lacking is the player’s signature on a contract with respect to personal terms. Some reports have it that the Bosnia will be offered a paypack of 100,000 English pounds per week.

The 24-year-old Dzeko, who has scored 17 goals in 31 internationals for Bosnia thus far in his career, totaled 66 goals in 111 Bundesliga games in his time with Vfl Wolfsburg after arriving from Czech Republic team FK Teplice to begin the 2007-08 campaign.

(Christian Charisius/Reuters)
========================================================

The Bosnia international attacker joins a Manchester City side already well stocked with a boatload of high-priced strikers on the books. Just this past summer, 20-year-old Italy international MARIO BALOTELLI was brought in by the Eastlands club for a mere 24.0 million English pounds. Dzeko’s arrival surely must signal the long-awaited departure of three-time Paraguay World Cup striker ROQUE SANTA CRUZ.

Out-of-favor Togo international striker EMMANUEL ADEBAYOR, who reportedly had a good training tussle with Ivory Coast World Cup defender KOLO TOURE today, is another who could be on his way from Manchester City soon.

Meanwhile, a transfer fee of 27.0 million English pounds will present Vfl Wolfsburg with a fantastic profit from their investment in Dzeko. After leading the Czech league with 13 goals for the 2006-07 season, the Bosnia was bought by then-Vfl Wolfsburg manager FELIX MAGATH for just 4.0 million Euros. The transfer reportedly agreed to for Dzeko works out roughly to a fee of 31.625 Euros that Manchester City will be paying the German club, who are a wholly owned subsidiary of German automobile manufacturers VOLKSWAGEN GROUP.

The existing Bundesliga record transfer is the 30.0 million Euro fee Bayern Munich paid to Vfb Stuttgart for Germany international striker MARIO GOMEZ in the summer of 2009.

Bayern Munich Buy 15.0 Million Euro Brazilian

========================================================

(Michael Probst/AP)
========================================================

The defending League and Cup champions in Germany, BAYERN MUNICH, have announced a major acquisition during the annual Winterpause as the versatile Brazilian LUIZ GUSTAVO DIAS has been signed from Bundesliga club TSG 1899 HOFFENHEIM in exchange for the considerable transfer fee of 15.0 million Euros.

The 23-year-old, commonly known as just Gustavo, has never been capped by Brazil at any level but has been with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim in Germany the past three and one half seasons.

Gustavo joined the southwestern Baden-Wuerttemberg side in 2007 from Brazilian outfit Sport Club Corinthians Alagoano, a modest provincal team who play in the tiny Estadio Nelson Peixoto Feijo (capacity 10,000) and should not be confused with far better-known Sport Club Corinthians Paulista based in big-city Sao Paulo, initially on loan.

After Gustavo played in 27 league matches and helped the TSG 1899 Hoffenheim team earn promotion form the 2.Bundesliga, the southwestern German club decided to excerise its option to purchase the Brazilian in the summer of 2008; since then, Gustavo has contested 72 Bundesliga games and scored two goals for the Sinsheim-based side.

Gustavo began football life as a left back but spent most of his time with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim as a defensive midfielder. On the surface, it would appear that Gustavo is a natural, younger replacement for 33-year-old Holland World Cup defensive midfielder MARK VAN BOMMEL. The veteran Dutchman, for his part, expressed pleasure that Bayern Munich management have signed as player as competent as Gustavo, who is capable of deployment in central defense, as well.

Included as part of the Gustavo transaction, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim will receive Bayern Munich’s 18-year-old talented Austria international winger DAVID ALABA on loan for the rest of the 2010-11 season.

Bundesliga cellar-dwellars BORUSSIA MOENCHENGLADBACH concluded a busy day at the transfer market by signing out-of-favor 27-year-old Germany international striker MIKE HANKE on a free transfer from Hannover 96.

Hanke’s tenure with the Lower Saxony club began well enough following a transfer from Vfl Woflsburg — believed to have cost somewhere between four and five million Euros — with a career high 10 goals in 31 Bundesliga matches for the 2007-08 campaign, but the veteran’s playing time decreased for Hannover 96 with each subsequent season thereafter.

Although Hanke was the third-leading goal-scorer for 4th place Hannover 96 this Bundesliga season, the striker with 12 caps and one goal for Germany had not started a single game this term for die Roten.
