Bundesliga
Spieltag # 14

0 – SC FREIBURG
2 – BAYERN MUNICH ———— Mueller pen 12′, Tymoshchuk 79′

An early goal from the penalty spot and an expulsion all inside the first twenty minutes allowed the runaway league leaders to play a patient, possession-oriented game as visiting BAYERN MUNICH professionally saw off host SC FREIBURG 2-0 and maintained its wide lead at the top of the Bundesliga table.

The record German champions got off to a fast start in the match contested in a constant rain after SC Freiburg’s youthful right back OLIVER SORG was whistled for a handball while defending in the box against Bayern Munich’s fabulous France World Cup winger FRANCK RIBERY. In-form Germany international winger THOMAS MUELLER confidently stepped up and blew his spot kick right past the diving SC Freiburg netminder OLIVER BAUMANN to record his eighth goal in the Bundesliga this season. Mueller, the talented youth team product who had scored 25 goals in his first two full campaigns with the traditional Bavarian giants, had slumped to seven goals despite playing in all 34 Bundesliga matches for Bayern Munich last term.

Shortly thereafter, Bayern Munich’s versatile Switzerland international XHERDAN SHAQIRI had worked himself into a fantastic scoring position but was intentionally fouled by SC Freiburg’s Senegalese central defender DIAGNE FALLOU. The referee in charge FLORIAN MEYER of Burgdorf had no other correct choice other than to leave the hosts short a man a scant 18 minutes into the Bundesliga match. To the credit of trainer CHRISTIAN STREICH’s side, though, SC Freiburg would both recover and reorganize well after this setback and certainly ward off any rout that some might have thought coming for the final seventy or so minutes.

========================================================

The hosts were very lucky to not concede a second goal just before the halftime break, however, after the header of Bayern Munich’s Brazilian center back DANTE, who had just scored his very first goal for the Bavarian club in their last Bundesliga match opposite Hannover 96, smashed harmlessly off the crossbar at the Mage Solar Stadion.

Germany internatioanl MARIO GOMEZ, the 27-year-old striker who paced Bayern Munich with 41 goals in all competitions last term including an impressive twenty-six in the Bundesliga alone, made his very first appearance of this 2012/13 season with the Bavarian Startelf after being selected by trainer JUPP HEYNCKES. “Super Mario”, of course, had scored his very first goal of this term almost immediately after coming on as a substitute in the preceding contest against Hannover 96 but was not able to have quite the same affect against SC Freiburg in Baden-Wuerttemberg. Eventually, Gomez was withdrawn in favor of aging Peru international striker CLAUDIO PIZARRO, the 34-year-old who is still searching for a first goal in the German top flight this season, himself, after scoring 18 times in 29 Bundesliga matches for Werder Bremen last season.

SC Freiburg midfielder MAX KRUSE, the 24-year-old, former Germany youth international who began his senior professional career with Werder Bremen and signed for the Baden-Wuerttemberg club just this summer from 2.Bundesliga side FC St. Pauli of Hamburg, had a very good chance to equalize for the outnumbered home side around the hour mark but Bayern Munich’s Germany international MANUEL NEUER stuck out his arm to halt the danger.

========================================================

========================================================
Germany international first choice MANUEL NEUER (1) did all that was required of him in the match against SC Freiburg at the Mage Solar Stadion in Baden-Wuerttemberg and fashioned a 10th shutout in 14 Bundesliga contests this season for table-toppers Bayern Munich in the process.
========================================================

ANATOLY TYMOSHCHUK, the highly-experienced, national team captain of the Ukraine who has already piled up 123 caps in his career, was also sent on as a substitute in the second half by Heynckes and added an all-important insurance strike with a little over ten minutes to play. Bayern Munich captain and Germany international fullback PHILIPP LAHM unlocked an attempted SC Freiburg offsides trap with an excellent pass that allowed the aging, 34-year-old midfielder to step around SC Freiburg goalkeeper Baumann and slot home, then. For Tymoshchuk, who has been at Bayern Munich since signing from Russian club Zenit St. Petersburg in the summer of 2009, the goal marked his first for Bayern Munich in any competition since neting for the Bavarians in a 3-0 triumph over Swiss club FC Basel in a UEFA Champions League match on December 10, 2010.

Tymoshchuk, the defensively-reliable veteran who made 23 appearances for in the German top flight and contested a total of 39 matches in all competitions for Bayern Munich but did not score a goal for Bayern Munich last season, had not found the back of the net for the record German champions in the Bundesliga since striking twice for the Bavarians in a 4-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt on November 27, 2010.

The visitors’s victory over SC Freiburg on the road in Baden-Wuerttemberg marked the Bavarians’ twelfth triumph in 14 Bundesliga outings this term and means that the record German champions have clinced the mythical title of HERBSTMEISTER for this 2012/13 campaign — the 18th time in the 50-year history of the Bundesliga that Bayern Munich have claimed that certain honorary award which translates basically into “autumn master”.

Bayern Munich’s ultimate goal in the Bundesliga, though, as is the case every single year without the slightest thought of question, would be the championship plate known as the Meisterschale.

2/18/12
Bundesliga
Spieltag #22

0 – SC FREIBURG
0 – BAYERN MUNICH

A courageous home side who had lost their leading goal-scorer this season over the Winterpause as well as their last thirteen matches in all competitions to the visiting record German champions played with a great sense of adventure and heart as bottom-of-the-table SC FREIBURG held mighty BAYERN MUNICH to a goalless draw in the Bundesliga.

Bayern Munich smashed SC Freiburg 7-0 earlier this fall and looked to have fashioned an eighth minute lead when Germany international HOLGER BADSTUBER headed home the free kick of national team constituent TONI KROOS. But the 22-year-old defender would be denied credit for his first strike of this 2011/12 season with the correct offsides call coming from the linesman. This would be all the closer that Germany national team trainer JOACHIM LOEW, SC Freiburg’s all-time leading Torjaeger who was in attendance at his old Dreisamstadion stomping grounds, would come to seeing a valid goal scored by one of his numerous Bavarian charges.

SC Freiburg, who still have not beaten Bayern Munich in 21 matches now dating back to March of 1996, sold Senegal international striker PAPISS CISSE (nine goals in the Bundesliga goals this term) to English Premier League side Newcastle United for the considerable fee of 12.0 million Euros last month. But this did not stop the Baden-Wuerttemberg club from seizing the initative and outshooting the Bavarians 6-0 over the first half an hour. Indeed, Bayern Munich did not manage its first attempt at goal until Brazil international right fullback RAFINHA sent his long-range effort wide in the 36th minute.

===========================================================

===========================================================

Bayern Munich’s Germany World Cup winger THOMAS MUELLER connected with a cross from France World Cup winger FRANCK RIBERY for a leaping volley at the far post just before halftime but SC Freiburg’s Germany U-21 international goalkeeper OLIVER BAUMANN was not about to add to his Bundesliga-leading total of 47 goals already conceded this season. In a bid to bolster the Bavarian attack, trainer JUPP HEYNCKES withdrew Rafinha in favor of Holland World Cup winger ARJEN ROBBEN and Bayern Munich did respond with an increase in chances But Germany international striker MARIO GOMEZ was virtually invisible throughout and would be, ultimately, exchanged for Croatia international IVICA OLIC with just over a quarter of an hour to go.

Robben, meanwhile, might have earned a penalty for the visitors after questionable contact with SC Freiburg’s French defender JONATHAN SCHMID in the 51st minute but match referee PETER GAGELMANN of Bremen decided not to blow his whistle; with twenty minutes remaining in the game, the Dangerous Dutchman had another wonderful opportunity following some good build-up work but would have his shot blocked.

24-year-old youth team product DANIEL CALIGIURI could have struck a late winner in the 83rd minute and delighted the partisan crowd of 24,000 at the modest ground in Freiburg im Breisgau but Germany World Cup goalkeeper MANUEL NEUER was quick to make a diving save at the near post and preserve a point for underachieving Bayern Munich.

Austria international midfielder DAVID ALABA (27), the 19-year-old who has improved tremendously since spending the second half of last season out on loan with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, looks to poke the ball away from SC Freiburg midfielder JAN ROSENTHAL during the Bundesliga match at the Dreisamstadion in Baden-Wuerttemberg.

Shechter Lifts Kaiserslautern

==================================================
SC Freiburg’s 32-year-old veteran defender OLIVER BARTH heads the ball away from 24-year-old Israel international striker ITAY SHECHETER of 1.FC Kaiserslautern, the summer transfer costing 2.5 million Euros from Ligat Ha’Al club FC Hapoel Tel Aviv, during the Bundesliga match at the Fritz Walter Stadion in Rhineland-Paltinate.
==================================================

Turned away by the underside of the crossbar earlier in the second half, Israel international striker ITAY SHECHTER outjumped two defenders to head home with just a quarter of an hour remaining and lift 1.FC KAISERSLAUTERN to a second consecutive victory with the 1-0 triumph over visiting cellar-dwellers SC FREIBURG at the old Betzenbergstadion.

Die Roten Teufel, who are still tied for last in the league having scored just eight goals in their first ten matches of this Bundesliga season, could ill afford to drop points in the standings at home to the bottom club in the German top flight on Saturday. But the new signing Shechter’s third goal of this term enabled the Red Devils to achieve the maximum result against SC Freiburg and remain two places ahead of the dreaded relegation zone. A flick-on at the near post off by 1.FC Kaiserslautern’s 29-year-old veteran defender MARTIN AMEDICK off a long throw-in allowed the Israel international lurking in the center to finish with aplomb in the 75th minute.

Shechter then afforded 1.FC Kaiserslautern a fantastic opportunity to put the game away for good a few minutes later after he was brought down in the box but 29-year-old midfielder and club captain CHRISTIAN TIFFERT had his spot kick turned away by SC Freiburg goalkeeper OLIVER BAUMANN, the youthful 21-year-old who had never before saved a penalty in the Bundesliga.

Spieltag # 5

7 – Bayern Munich — Gomez 8′, 52′, 55′, pen 71′, Ribery 26′, 41′, Petersen 90′
0 – SC Freiburg

The very first ball entered the back of the net in only the eighth minute and a consistent flow of goals ensued thereafter as record champion BAYERN MUNICH absolutely flattened visiting SC FREIBURG 7-0 to retain their position at the top of the Bundesliga table.

21-year-old Germany international midfielder TONI KROOS, fresh from his first Laenderspiel Tor against Poland earlier this week, broke into the box and astutely squared the ball for Germany international striker MARIO GOMEZ to initiate the rout early for Bayern Munich. France World Cup winger FRANCK RIBERY tallied two class goals, the first with a cheeky backheel, to send Bayern Munich to the cabin with a commanding 3-0 lead. Whatever hopes SC Freiburg may have had were thoroughly obliterated when Gomez fired three more goals after the break.

In the game’s final minute second half substitute NILS PETERSEN, the 2.Bundesliga Torjaegermeister who scored 25 goals for FC Energie Cottbus last season before a 2.8 million Euro transfer to Bayern Munich this summer, added his first career strike in the German top flight.

With four goals against SC Freiburg, the leading scorer in all the Bundesliga last term doubled his production for this season in all of one game. And Gomez, who scored 28 times in the league for Bayern Munich last season, has dramatically regained sole possession of the spot at the top of the chart with eight goals for this 2011/12 campaign, as well. Seven goals in the last two games, including all three in the defeat of 1.FC Kaiserslautern a couple of weeks ago, has gone a long way towards making that happen.

The Bayern Munich defense, meanwhile, casually posted its sixth consecutive shutout in all competitions with the clean sheet turned in against SC Freiburg.

Spieler Bericht : SC Freiburg 2011/12

================================================================
Senegal international striker PAPISS CISSE recently saw his German Bundesliga employers with whom he has a contract until 2014, Baden-Wuerttemberg-based side SC Freiburg, reject an insufficient bid from English Premier League club Newcastle United and will be in Bavaria to face table-toppers Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Saturday.
================================================================

The continued goal-scoring of Senegal international PAPISS CISSE will be absolutely critical to whatever success SC FREIBURG may enjoy in the German top flight this season. The prolific 26-year-striker has already produced 32 goals in 52 Bundesliga matches since arriving from French second division side FC Metz in December of 2009. Included in that total for Cisse are four goals in the first four games of this 2010-11 season.

SC Freiburg established a new club record for the purchase of a single player this off-season summer in a bid to strenghten the attack. 25-year-old Mali international striker GARRA DEMBELE was bought from Bulgarian side PFC Levski Sofia for 2.2 million Euros club after scoring 26 goals in 24 domestic league games last season. Dembele, who began his career in France with AJ Auxerre reserves, has also spent time with clubs in Denmark and Greece.

29-year-old veteran STEFAN REISINGER signed in July of 2009 from SpVgg Greuther Fuerth and has partnered Cisse in attack for SC Freiburg the past two Bundesliga matches; it will be interesting to see how many forwards visiting SC Freiburg, whose all-time leading goal-scorer in club history is current Germany national team trainer JOACHIM LOEW, deploys against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena in Bavaria.

Out of favor with SC Freiburg’s new trainer MARCUS SORG at the moment is Japan World Cup striker KISHO YANO, who scored no goals in 15 Bundesliga matches last season signing from J-League side Albirex Niigata and has yet to make a first team appearance this term.

================================================================

Democratic Republic of Congo international midfielder CEDRIC MAKIADI (right) of SC Freiburg, who finished as joint top scorer in the 2.Bundesliga with 16 goals for MSV Duisburg during the 2008-09 campaign, competes for the ball with Borussia Moenchengladbach midfielder ROMAN NEUSTAEDTER during the Bundesliga match last May at Borussia Park.
================================================================

Slovakia World Cup winger ERIK JENDRISEK, who was signed from Schalke 04 Gelsenkirchen in exchange for 900,000 Euros last January, is beginning his sixth campaign of German football. The 24-year-old made his first appearance with the Startelf this season and scored his very first Bundesliga goal for SC Freiburg in the 3-0 victory over visiting Vfl Wolfsburg at the Dreisamstadion a couple of weeks ago. Jendrisek, who has earned 29 caps and scored three goals for his country, did appear as a substitute in Slovakia’s disastrous 4-0 loss at home to Armenia in the European Championships earlier this week.

Democratic Republic of Congo international midfielder CEDRIC MAKIADI, the 27-year-old who failed to net even once despite appearing in all 34 Bundesliga matches last season, is off to a fast start and already has scored two goals in SC Freiburg’s first four contests this term. 23-year-old JOHANNES FLUM, who registered SC Freiburg’s 500th goal in the Bundesliga last January, is a fixture in the middle of the park for Sorg. 26-year-old JULIAN SCHUSTER operates in a defensive role just in front of the backline.

Morocco international midfielder YACINE ABDESSADKI, the 30-year-old who has been with the Bresigau Brasilianer since departing French side Racing Strasbourg in the summer of 2008, started the first three games of this new Bundesliga season for SC Freiburg before being benched against Vfl Wolfsburg. 23-year-old midfielder DANIEL CALIGIURI has come on as a substitute in the last three matches after appearing with SC Freiburg’s Startelf in the opener against FC Augsburg. 24-year-old Belarus international ANTON PUTSILA, who has earned 24 caps and scored four goals for his country, is another option in midfield.

Out injured has been one-time Germany U-21 international midfielder JAN ROSENTHAL, the 25-year-old who was SC Freiburg’s second-leading scorer in the Bundesliga last season with five goals from 22 games.

================================================================

Sorg is, at present, having to deal with serious manpower issues at the back in Baden-Wuerttemberg. Visiting SC Freiburg will again be without its club captain against Bayern Munich on Saturday as 31-year-old left fullback HEIKO BUTSCHER is also on the injury shelf. Bosnia / Herzegovina international MENSUR MUJDZA, the right fullback who has missed the last two Bundesliga matches for the Bresigau Brasilianer, will have to pass a late fitness test.

31-year-old Czech PAVEL KRMAS appeared in just six Bundesliga games last term but has started the last three matches for SC Freiburg at centerback. Meanwhile, 28-year-old Romania international midfielder MAXIMILIAN NICU featured at right back versus Vfl Wolfsburg and drew praise for his work. The anchor so far for SC Freiburg has been 31-year-old veteran OLIVER BARTH, the former Stuttgart Kickers and Fortuna Dusseldorf defender who scored a fine goal against Vfl Wolfsburg.

SC Freiburg pocketed 3.0 million Euros with the summer sale of youthful defender OMER TOPRAK to Bayer Leverkusen and just recently peddled DANIEL WILLIAMS, who started at right back in the 5-3 loss to Werder Bremen earlier this season, to Bundesliga club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim for 200,000 Euros; Switzerland international BEG FERATI was signed on a free transfer from two-time defending Super League champion FC Basel, but the 24-year-old defender has yet to make his Bundesliga debut.

21-year-old OLIVER BAUMANN firmly established himself as first choice between the sticks for SC Freiburg by appearing in 30 Bundesliga matches last season. The current backup, 26-year-old MANUEL SALZ, has exactly three career Bundesliga games to his credit. The previous Nummer Eins, 26-year-old Frenchman SIMON POUPLIN, was released this summer.

4 – Bayern Munich —— Demichelis 39, Gomez 61′, Tymoshchuk 71′, Kroos 80′
2 – SC Freiburg ———— Reisinger 64′, own goal 87′

On the heels of a come-from-behind victory in the DFB Pokal earlier this week, the defending Bundesliga champions rediscovered a measure of goal-scoring touch as BAYERN MUNICH defeated visiting SC FREIBURG 4-2 for a fourth league win of the season and three much-needed points in the standings.

Argentina World Cup defender MARTIN DEMICHELIS, making his first start of the Bundesliga season for Bayern Munich, headed the home side to the lead from a corner kick by Croatia international defender DANIJEL PRANJIC in the 39th minute.

One minute past the hour mark, Germany international striker MARIO GOMEZ added a second for Bayern Munich off another corner by the Croatian Pranjic to score his fourth goal of this Bundesliga season.

Shortly thereafter, however, SC Freiburg halved the advantage when substitute striker STEFAN REISINGER, who appeared in 25 games (no goals) for TSV 1860 Munich in the 2.Bundesliga during the 2005-06 season, scored his second goal of the season with a glancing header following a cross from Belarus international midfielder ANTON PUTSILA.

Bayern Munich quickly restored a two goal advantage when Ukraine international midfielder-turned-center back ANATOLI TYMOSHCHUK, who signed from Russian club Zenit St. Petersburg for a reported transfer fee of 14.0 million Euros in the summer of 2009, blasted a shot past Baumann from the edge of the box to score his first career Bundesliga goal for the Bavarian club in the 71st minute.

20-year-old Germany World Cup reserve midfielder TONI KROOS, who spent last season out on loan at Bayer Leverkusen, notched his first-ever Bundesliga goal for Bayern Munich with a noteworthy long-range effort to give Dutch coach LOUIS VAN GAAL’s side a 4-1 lead in the 80th minute of the match.

Holland World Cup defender EDSON BRAAFHEID, who finished last season out on loan in Scotland with Glasgow Celtic, did put a ball into his own goal to leave a sloppy look to the final score but the end result was never in doubt for Bayern Munich.
