Bayern Munich : 2012 Summer Transactions

=======================================================
Croatia international MARIO MANDZUKIC, the one-time Dinamo Zagreb striker who netted 20 goals in 56 Bundesliga games for Vfl Wolfsburg over two seasons, has paid immidiate dividends on the 13.0 million Euros invested by Bayern Munich this summer with three goals in his first two competitive matches of the new 2012/13 campaign for the traditional Bavarian giants.

All patience having expired, the blog here is now formally sick and tired of waiting for this transfer saga involving young Spain international midfielder JAVI MARTINEZ of Basque La Liga club Athletic Bilbao to play itself out — should any deal involving what is rumored to be a Bundesliga record-smashing fee finally go through, an update with respect to summer signings by the traditional Bavarian giants will then be forthcoming.

Up to this point, the transfer policy of BAYERN MUNICH has been somewhat limited, historically speaking, in contrast with the amount of money spent in other off-season summers gone by. Nevertheless, the addition of Croatia international striker MARIO MANDZUKIC from Vfl Wolfsburg looks to be a wise move thus far, particularly in light of the injury to Germany international and prolific Bundesliga goal-scorer MARIO GOMEZ. Another astute signing is youthful Switzerland international XHERDAN SHAQIRI, the versatile winger capable of playing many different positions who totaled 28 goals in 90 games as FC Basel posted three consecutive Swiss Super League titles from 2010 thru 2012. The arrival of well-regarded Brazilian defender DANTE from Borussia Moenchengladbach for a transfer fee of 4.7 million Euros is good news for the Bayern Munich backline; the essential exchange of the 28-year-old former Standard Liege centerback for the troubled and now released Brazilian rearguard BRENO clearly represents a significant talent upgrade for the Bavarian defensive corps as a whole.

Germany youth international MITCHELL WEISER, the 18-year-old winger bought from Bundesliga survivors 1.FC Koeln for the transfer fee of 800,000 Euros, demonstrated his potential by scoring the match-winning goal in the Liga Total Cup exhibition contest against SV Hamburg earlier this August; the acquisition from Werder Bremen of experienced Peru international striker CLAUDIO PIZARRO, the all-time leading foreign goal-scorer in the history of Bundesliga, does not cost one penny.

The little-used, veteran Croatia international pair of midfielder DANIJEL PRANJIC and striker IVICA OLIC both depart on free transfers but Bayern Munich does bank 500,000 Euros with the loan of former Germany U-21 international striker NILS PETERSEN to Werder Bremen for the entire 2012/13 Bundesliga season.
