PSV EINDHOVEN maintained its slim one point lead at the top of the Dutch Eredivisie table in their first game since the end of the winter break in the Netherlands with a 3-0 victory on the road at struggling VVV Venlo.
Holland international defender WILFRED BOUMA sent the visitors to the lead in the 14th minute with a flying volley at the back post after a corner kick had been flicked on at the near upright; a 32-year-old veteran with 35 caps for the Netherlands, Bouma now has tallied three Eredivisie goals this season since arriving after five years in England with Aston Villa.
Holland international winger JERMAIN LENS shot a second goal for PSV Eindhoven in the final minute of the first half following a defensive mistake at the back by VVV Venlo; the summer purchase costing 6.25 million Euros from AZ 67 Alkmaar has now scored six goals in the Dutch top flight for the Boeren this term.
Canada international midfielder ATIBA HUTCHINSON, a shrewd free transfer acquisition from Danish side FC Copenhagen this past off-season, added his first-ever goal in the Dutch Eredivisie with a cool finish off the post following a pass from Lens in the first minute of the second half.
19-year-old Belgian defender FUNSO OJO, who was recently sent out on loan by PSV Eindhoven to get some playing time, was brought on as a second half substitute by VVV Venlo.
